Dry lining can have some advantages over fresh wet plastering, especially if you have a short deadline before you move on to painting or wallpapering and can’t afford to allow for drying time.
What is dry lining? Simply attaching plasterboard to your walls or ceiling, either by sticking it on with dabs of glue, or by nailing or screwing it flush against the wall. Gluing will leave a small cavity that does actually slightly reduce the size of your room, and nailing the plasterboard doesn’t, but you do need to consider that either version may cause difficulties if you want to attach radiators and shelving to your walls.
We can either finish your plasterboard by covering the joints with hessian and then skim coating it, or by taping and jointing, which fills in any nail holes and the joints, followed by sanding the surface to finish it off. You’ll get a perfect, smooth finish with skim coating and a rougher, matt finish with taping and jointing.
The good news is that we’ll come out and visit, then take a look at your walls and what you’re going to do with your rooms, along with the time you have to finish the job, before advising you on the best type of finish to give you what you want.
We’ll then give you a free, no-obligation quote so you can see how much everything is going to cost.

WHY CHOOSE US
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If you’d like a skim coated finish, there will be a short period of drying time, but it won’t take anywhere near as long as having a wet plaster finish.
Definitely. We’ll give you my best, expert advice, depending on the time you have available for your project, how you’re going to use your room, and what sort of finish you’d prefer.
Possibly. Wet plastering offers good soundproofing, a neat finish and you won’t have any problems attaching anything to your walls, but it does need longer to dry before you can finish your decorating.
