M.WAGSTAFF PLASTERING
RE-SKIMMING
Not every surface needs a full wet plastering from scratch. If your old plaster is in good enough condition, we may simply be able to re-skim it for you, saving time and letting you finish your decorating much more quickly.
What is re-skimming? Simply applying a couple of layers of thin plaster across your old plaster to smooth it off and give you a new, fresh finish.
As with any job, we’ll visit your home or site and take a look at what you need, before giving you a firm price for the project and letting you know how long the work will take.
Before getting started with re-skimming, we’ll prepare the old plaster carefully to make it ready for its new coat. We’ll clean the wall thoroughly to remove any dust and loose material, ensure there is no remaining adhesive or wallpaper and then apply adhesive sealer to ensure a perfect, well-bonded finish. We’ll then do two coats of plaster over the prepared surface to give you an ideal surface for either painting or wallpapering.

WHY CHOOSE US
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
FAQ
Yes. we’d want to check the current plaster surface to make sure it’s still good enough for re-skimming. And if it’s not, we’ll advise you on whether we think dry lining or wet plastering is your best option and give you a free, no-obligation quote for the project.
If the plaster is too damaged, cracked and very pitted, it may not be suitable for re-skimming and you might need to start from scratch with fresh plaster. If we find that your plaster is damp, you would also need to start again, and would need to fix whatever is causing the damp, before we could come back and plaster.
Wet plastering can take four to six weeks, but re-skimming can be ready to redecorate in only three days!
